The Retailers Association of India (RAI) welcomes the GST 2.0 reforms introduced by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. RAI expresses its gratitude to the Department of Legal Metrology for issuing the notification that allows manufacturers, packers, and importers to declare revised Maximum Retail Prices (MRPs) on unsold stock following changes in the GST rate structure.
This progressive step ensures that the benefits of reduced GST rates are passed on to consumers swiftly and transparently.
The reform is expected to:
• Lower consumer prices
• Stimulate demand and consumption
• Support overall retail sector growth
RAI believes that such measures will play a crucial role in strengthening consumer confidence, enhancing compliance, and fostering a healthier retail ecosystem in India.
